All Material Things

I apologize, I know some of you have been waiting to see my Zipia haul!

The items arrived almost two weeks ago (Shipping took about a week which is quite fast!!)
I wanted to show each item to you but have not found the time yet!

I'll make a proper entry next time! It will be in my ever-growing 'Things to blog about' list. I still owe you the circle lens review... *shifty eyes

Anyway, just to satisfy your curiosity a little, here's a pic of all the items I purchased from Zipia; properly labelled too (you're welcome by the way)

All together 18 items! *prances

We've been having lots of get-togethers on weekends; Josh and Will even cooked for us one Saturday night.
Although I brought my camera, I only took one photo. Each time they finished a vegetarian-friendly dish, I started devouring it. EPIC FAIL.

Rare photo of Josh cooking. HAHAHA! No, I kid.
He knows how to cook :) .... well, certain dishes anyway ;)

Anyho, my bestie Sharon sent me a birthday present two weeks before my birthday in February. She sent it via sea mail.
Yes. Sea mail.
Who uses sea mail nowadays?

They told her it would take 6 weeks to arrive, so she figured it'd be about a month late.
She was quite disappointed to find out it had not arrived at its destination by mid April.

Well, it finally showed up last week; almost 14 freaking weeks later!!

Typical Sharon

It's a sketch book :3

Me like the spine!!

Signed by Sharon and Jean. Thanks a lot guys

Sharon actually had gotten her birthday gift before I even gotten mine! It took about two weeks before it reached her; sent via air mail.

Made her a strawberry and a whale keychain plushie.
The whale was painstakingly lot harder to make than I thought. I had to stitch and re-stitch it a few times but it still turned out less than satisfactory.

Make your own Purikura photos

Ah... I remember the days when I was semi-obsessed with everything Japanese.
Anime, jap fashion style and learning japanese; though it didn't last very long.

Anyway, I'm sure most people my generation know of purikura (プリクラ) a.ka. Japanese photo booth stickers!

Everyone looks good in purikuras because of the soft lighting which blurs out any blemishes, scars, etc.

Anyho, I stumbled across this uber cute website called Puri Cute [click me] which allows you to upload your own photos and create your own without entering those expensive photo booths!!

A lot of the add-ons are actually animated but I was only allowed to save a jpeg instead of a gif one.

Definitely an awesome time-killer!

Bloody thieves!! >=(

A couple of disturbing events took place around my residental area recently, making me feel rather unsettled.

Less than a month ago, a man got murdered in a nearby train station's car park in broad daylight. A few weeks ago, an elderly man was beaten and robbed, also in broad daylight. Yesterday, there was a home invasion whereby the intruders were armed with tasers and stun guns!!

However, none of these struck me harder than the fact that Josh's car was broken into a few nights ago. Fortunately nothing was broken, and nothing valuable was taken; just my sunglasses (which was dirt cheap and was scratched anyway) and a few gold coins ($2 and $1 coins for you non-Aussies).

Josh had soccer training that night so parked his car in the city, on Burke Street; a rather busy street. It was only after his training session, did he realize his car had been searched. He opened his boot to put his soccer gear in and found the contents of his work bag scattered. His car door has been unlocked and the glove compartment in the car was left wide opened.

I'm glad I wasn't with him at the time, I would have freaked out!

It was a good thing that we didn't have anything valuable in the car but this incident has left us quite perturbed.

Josh is definitely going to get a good car alarm system installed soon!!!

Slave Hunters / Chuno

I am currently addicted to a Koren drama called Slave Hunters (called "Chuno" in Korean)
And it's all Josh's fault! During his trip back home to Malaysia, his mother was watching this drama on telly. He became hooked onto it and so he began hunting for (pun intended) the DVD set.

Now I don't usually enjoy Korean dramas because they make me cry tons!! T___T
(And I did cry a fair bit so far watching this particular one)

Normally, I would prefer a modern drama to an olden one, but after a bit of persuasion and the first episode, I was completely won over.

The storyline was a little confusing at first because we were not used to the olden terminologies and Korean names. Moreover, the subtitle work was a little poor; the names were spelt differently in some episodes. Occasionally, there were no translations during some conversations! Although, these inconsistencies left us a little bewildered and frustrated at times, they did not make the show any less enjoyable.

There is a large number of main characters in the show; each of them play an interesting role, and unknown to them at first, they become entangled in an intense power strife that would change the future of Korea. The plot is strong and exciting, with romance, revenge and greed thrown into the mix.

The main character, Lee DaeGil is played by the well-known Korean actor Jang Hyuk (You might recognize him from Windstruck and Successful Story of a Bright Girl)

DaeGil is Joseon's best slave hunter, who actively captures runaway slaves for money. He was once a nobleman who fell in love with one of his slaves, Un Nyun (Lee Da Hae). Quite predictably, DaeGil's father objected to their relationship and decided to punish them by selling her away. Un Nyun's half-brother could not bear to lose his sister so he killed DaeGil's family and sets their house on fire. He believed that he had killed DaeGil in the fire, and ran away with Un Nyun to start a new life.

DaeGil became a slave hunter in order to pursue his first and only love, and her half-brother, the man who had destroyed everything he had.

He's not the only one who is ripped either *O*

Song Tae Ha (played by Oh ji Ho)  is the best swordsman in Joseon, and also the close friend of the Crown Prince. He and his men were wrongly accused of a crime and were all made into slaves. After TaeHa learnt that the Crown Prince was poisoned and his youngest son was in grave danger, he decided to head to Jeju to save the future ruler of Korea. On his way, he met Un Nyun (who was now called Hye Won) and they soon began a romantic relationship.

*Dum dum dum....

Now, there is a lot more to this than just hunting slave, but I can't be bothered to write the whole synopsis down, so if you're still curious, have a read here  Slave Hunters Synopsis - allkoreandrama

I can't decide whether I like the character DaeGil because he can be quite conniving when it comes to pursuing slaves. At times, he shows his kind and caring side. Other times, I find him very cold-hearted and selfish. I suppose this makes his character so intriguing and complex?

Song Tae Ha is definitely my favourite character in the show; he falls into the category of your typical mysterious tall, dark, handsome brooding-type hero who doesn't say very much unless he has to. He has a strong, calm presence, and carries himself in a dignified manner. Plus, he looks a little bit like Takeshi Kaneshiro *O*

I even think he looks better with a mustache & beard! *O*

Ugh.. I have a feeling that most of the characters in Chuno would not have a happy ending T___T
Why is it in most korean dramas, they kill off their most-loved characters???

Will she ever stop?

Let me tell you about my latest purchase!

This absolutely gorgeous trench coat I got from Temt! They just opened one up in Chadstone (woo hoo!)
The moment I laid my eyes on it, my heart stopped.

It was a dark purple coat with a slight metallic sheen and a leopard-print lining.

I also love the buttons on the coat! Glossy black with marble swirls in its center

(apologizes for the bad photoshop work of the background. It's was messy and it was the best I could do at this ungodly hour)

Ahh... the satisfaction of a great buy... ♥
